No, Spanish cedar which is used to line cigar humidors is not truly cedar. It is a completely different kind of tree. If you use chest/closet cedar, your cigars will absorb that extremely potent flavor. If you want to make your own humidor, either buy Spanish cedar, or collect empty cigar boxes made of Spanish cedar, and line your humidor with that.

Aromatic red cedar is totally different from Spanish Cedar, which is actually a mahoganey varietal.
